an american dynasty

An American Dynasty: The Story of a Dakota Family
Blog type: Individual family history

I’d like to say that our family story started with a tent in the 1930’s on some dusty prairie in the Westerns of South Dakota. All families would like to trace their roots to such humble beginnings. But if I did, it would be a lie. I could attempt to spin a yarn so sad that Heaven’s angels weep at its telling. But if I did, it would also be a lie. So, how do I start a manuscript detailing over half a century in the life and times of a Dakota family?

Carefully, very carefully. We are all strong personalities in this family called Williamson. Some might react explosively if their portrait was painted in harsh oils. Others might wish to steal the brush from my hand if not painted in forgiving colors leaving all blemishes and flaws out of sight and therefore out of history.

Let me assure everyone that I understand clearly the fact that this family is, like the Poppins of England, Practically Perfect in Every Way. Of course, the devil is in the details……. and in the word “Practically”

lewisville minnesota

Lewisville, Minnesota
Blog type: Individual family history, Midwest genealogy, Minnesota genealogy

As a young bookworm, day dreaming child, I always wondered about the cousins that I thought I must have in Germany [ Bleckede and Luneburg]. I was able to start Genealogy with computer around 2001, I still have limited knowledge in computer technology, grammar, spelling, and in the genealogy techniques. I make up for my limits by my persistence in wanting to share all I can. Also by my persistence in my search. I have discovered the family members of the ‘Meyer Book’. I am still hoping to meet so many more of this vast family. I started this blog to serve the need I have to talk about my details of genealogy [journal] of all my surnames. Especially the locations of family settlements. Your warned, that there will be discussions of the details of the problem situations with the surnames I have had, etc. I am known to talk and talk about it until my family and friends eyes glaze over. I guess this blog may help save them from too much of that. I hope family will join in help problem solve and share more of the various family stories and insights and ideas. Non family as well. I have put the information out there and now I am waiting for family to come.

my mouse is broken

My Mouse Is Broken
Blog type: Individual family history

I need a place to park some stuff for the Cataloging Electronic Resources workshop Marcia and I are doing next week, so thought I’d try yet another blog (since my others have been such screaming successes). Never mind that it took me a good half-hour to find an address I could live with. I probably shouldn’t be surprised that so many people had the same address ideas I did, but it seems they all abandoned ship after only one post. At least I delete my abandoned blogs.
