Here is a list of events and goings-on in the world of genealogy blogging. Here’s what is happening in the coming week:
- On Thursday, November 26, 2009, They That Go Down To The Sea will celebrate its first anniversary.
Scanfest will be early this year to circumvent the American Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We will be meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 11 AM to 2 PM, Pacific Standard Time.
What is Scanfest? Well, it is a group of like-minded genealogists, family history buffs, and scrapbooking fanatics who have tons of photos to scan but find the chore irksome and boring. So why not do the scanning while communicating with other scanners? And if you need help or advice on how best to scan photos, this is the event for you!

Genealogy Blog Carnivals
- The 9th Edition of the Graveyard Rabbits Carnival is accepting submissions through Wednesday, November 25, 2009. The theme is In The News: Write a blog post about something you read or heard in the news (recent or past) that pertains to a cemetery. It could be news of a relocation, vandalism, a famous burial—anything goes.
Genealogy Conferences This Week
As expected, the genealogy conference season slows down around the holiday season. View upcoming genealogy conferences in the United States and across the globe at the group of calendars at GeneaBloggers. If you know of an upcoming expo or conference that should be on the GeneaBloggers conference calendar, send it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompt
Check out Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompt #47: Seek help for records that don’t make sense. Do you have a census page or family record that contains information that just doesn’t add up? Discuss it in your blog and see if readers can help.
Thanks to Amy Coffin at We Tree for the inspiration!
Our Daily Blogging Prompts (Black Sheep Sunday, Madness Monday, Tombstone Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, Treasure Chest Thursday, Follow Friday and Surname Saturday) can help you come up with ideas each day of the week for blog posts! And don’t forget to check out other upcoming events at the Geneabloggers Calendar. This is the same Google calendar that has been in existence for quite some time. And if you subscribe to the calendar you’ll receive email reminders of events.
