Happy Blogiversary!

  • A Canadian Family celebrates its first anniversary Wednesday, December 30, 2009.  Please take a minute and say “Congratulations” to Evelyn.

If your blog anniversary is coming up soon, make sure it gets on our GeneaBloggers calendar! Remember to send your blog anniversary info to GeneaBloggers.

Data Backup Day

Great news! Novosoft LLC – the maker of Handy Backup – has given us four (4) free copies of this simple-to-use backup software and we’ll be giving them away in a Data Backup Day contest! The contest details will be announced later this weekend – stay tuned!

In the meantime, a great New Year’s resolution would be to back up your genealogy research data, right? What are you waiting for, a major data loss disaster to strike? The first day of each month has been designated as Data Backup Day – and here are some great resources to get you started.

Genealogy Blog Carnivals

  • The 10th Edition of The Graveyard Rabbit Carnival requests entries by Friday, December 25, 2009. The topic: investigate how families determine their final resting place.
  • The deadline for the 25th Edition of the Carnival of Central and Eastern European Genealogy has been extended to Monday, December 28, 2009.  The theme is Christmas/Hanukkah traditions and you are invited to submit your post about your Central and Eastern European ancestors.
  • The 87th Edition of the Carnival of Genealogy is accepting submissions through Friday, January 1, 2010. The theme: New Year’s Resolutions! This year is almost over and a new decade is knocking on the door. This is the perfect time to make your New Year resolutions, goals, aims, declarations, intentions, aspirations, objectives, plans, targets, schemes, wishes, or whatever you want to call them!
