September 1st Is Data Backup Day!

Have you backed up your genealogy research data lately? What are you waiting for, a major data loss disaster to strike? The first day of each month has been designated as Data Backup Day and all genealogists are urged to backup your files.  On Saturday we’ll have our monthly Data Backup Day post with some updated information on tools you can use to make sure you don’t suffer from data loss!

Genealogy Blog Carnivals

  • The Carnival of Irish Heritage and Culture, 15th Edition is hosting its 2nd Annual Small-leaved Shamrock Summer Reading Challenge at Small-leaved Shamrock.  Read a book of Irish fiction, a selection of Irish poetry or a work of non-fiction about Irish history and/or culture, and share it by submitting a link to your blog post here.  The deadline is Sunday, August 30, 2009.
  • The 79th Edition of The Carnival of Genealogy is accepting submissions through Tuesday, September 1, 2009.  The theme is Family Reunions and the host is M. Diane Rogers at CanadaGenealogy, or, ‘Jane’s Your Aunt’.

Genealogy Conferences This Week

  • August 28 – 29, 2009 – Family History Expo 2009 – Salt Lake City.  Holly Hansen and her group have put together what it sure to be a great event!  Take a look at not only the class schedule but also at the exhibitors!
