If you are in need of a way to display items such as a blog feed, tweets from Twitter etc. on a monitor or projected on to a wall, check out RollGator.
Why Display Feeds?
Now you may ask, “Why would I want to display something like that?” Here are some ideas:
- as a vendor at a genealogy conference, if you have a blog or use Twitter, you could display those items constantly scrolling at your booth
- if you are the organizer of a genealogy conference and have encouraged the use of a hashtag on Twitter, you can display what others are saying about the conference experience
- and in an office environment you could have a large monitor for your employees to see the latest news and blog posts related to your industry
RollGator is a free* service and you must create a login to access its features. You will also need to have the URL address of your blog feed (see this post at Bootcamp for GeneaBloggers on how to burn a feed using FeedBurner).
Once you enter your information, a URL address is produced which you can use on a web browser connected to a monitor or wall display. Here is a sample for the latest posts from GeneaBloggers.
* While the RollGator service is free to you, there may be ads displayed which are geared towards the subject matter of your feed. Read the RollGator Terms of Service when creating a login for more information.
