For the past several months, I’ve been using a site called su.pr when there are new posts here at GeneaBloggers. Su.pr is part of the StumbleUpon site of social bookmarking and allows visitors to look at related items on the Web.
I use the site because I can post to Twitter, Facebook and shorten a long URL all at the same time. Su.pr also lets me pre-post these messages as well as track how many hits each message receives.
Unfortunately, some users are having problems accessing the posts and the GeneaBloggers site via the su.pr links. I’d love your feedback as to accessibility of the GeneaBloggers site – please leave a comment and let me (and other readers) know about any access issues.
Thanks!

Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 13:43 ¶Sorry to hear people are having problems viewing this site. I do not have any problems at all! I usually view this through Google Chrome.
Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 13:43 ¶Hi Thomas!
Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 13:45 ¶I haven’t had any problems. I’m using Firefox 3.6.
I can’t see any su.pr urls on my Motorola Razr phone so I know that if I am interested in something linking there, I have to go online to view it. Not user friendly, and easy to “miss” something that I really should see, but it’s not impossible to get to the blog if I want to. My phone works better with tinyurl.
Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 13:46 ¶Several weeks (months?) ago I did experience the problem you describe, but haven’t since then. Since nobody else mentioned it and I’ve had so many ISP problems out in the boonies, I just assumed the issue was on my end.
It loads fine for me now.
Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 14:32 ¶Thomas, I was having problems for awhile (it would freeze up the computer) but lately it seems to be better. Tinyurl is better, though.
Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 14:48 ¶Once in awhile I get the white screen and have to reload a few times. But not always.
Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 16:00 ¶Thomas, I’ve had no trouble.I’m using Firefox 3.6.

Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 16:01 ¶Not having too much trouble, IE 8 user here. Sometimes I don’t know if it is the site I am going to, IE 8, Bill Gates, or just me. So, I start over. Most of the time, a fresh start works, helps to dump the temp files, I do that a lot lately, but just not here, seems to be everywhere that I am dumping, restarting, dumping, restarting.
That said, since you had to change the template here, I cannot seem to find the blog list, or the suggest a blog or any of the other links at the top. Not sure you are done tweaking the new look or if it is me just not seeing the forest for the trees.

There is now a menu with 8 different icons at the top including About, Genealogy Blog Listing, etc. This is where you should be able to access the other items.
Cheers

Posted 13 Feb 2010 at 18:42 ¶Thomas, can see them, but for whatever reason they are not hot. I surfed in this AM from Facebook and the words do not link. So, I opened another page in IE8 and surfed in from My Favorites, and still no links. Don’t know why – - I LOVE being special!
Posted 14 Feb 2010 at 07:53 ¶The links are on the icons not on the words – I will change the HTML code to include the words.
Posted 14 Feb 2010 at 10:31 ¶Links on words work now, thanx
Are there really icons?? Geeshh, don’t see any now and never did.
Web site looks fab, by the way.

Posted 14 Feb 2010 at 18:22 ¶I had problems with tr.im and switched to bit.ly. I found it very easy to shorten urls, twitter, and post to facebook from there. I haven’t ‘clicked’ enough on su.pr links to give good feedback on consistency though.
