I have the pleasure of introducing you to, A.C. Ivory of the Find My Ancestor Blog.
A.C.’s “Find My Ancestor” blog, is designed to be informative with the latest news, techniques, and websites for beginner genealogists as well as advanced genealogists who have been researching for years.
A.C. has been researching his family history and doing genealogy for a little over three years now. Although being fairly new to genealogy, he learns more and more each day by reading other genealogy blogs, listening to podcasts, and helping others with their own research. A.C. currently resides in Utah.
A.C.’s Family and His Blog
A.C.’s grandparents love his blog! They are consistently letting him know how great they think the blog is and they are so happy that he is doing genealogy. A.C. feels his grandparents are the most excited, now knowing that research and heirlooms can be passed down to someone who will cherish, preserve and further their family history research.
A.C. knows that his parents subscribe to his blog by the fact that they are always mentioning they have read his current post. A.C.’s grandparents are still becoming familiar with computers and the Internet, so A.C. will usually be the one to fill them in on the neat things he finds and posts about.
How A.C. Follows Rest of Us
A.C. uses Google Reader for the most part to follow other genealogy blogs or he goes directly to the blog. He does not use his email for blog reading. Google Reader is the most convenient way to pull up on his iGoogle homepage; he will then read all the new posts. A.C. also uses his iPhone as well, which makes it very convenient when he is away from his computer, allowing him to catch up on the latest posts.
A.C. subscribes to about 30 blogs but tends to read more during certain times. In particular, he reads blogs that are mentioned on Twitter and GeneaBloggers. A.C. rarely goes a day without trying to read all the posts from that day. He does find it difficult at times to read all of the blogs that he subscribes to, if all would happen to post on the same day!
A.C.’s Thoughts on Blogging
At first A.C. thought that maybe he wouldn’t know what to write about or that he would just be talking to himself without readers interested in what he had to say. He also believed that he would run out of ideas, but since then A.C. has learned that if you read other blogs and follow what is going on in the genealogy world, there is always something to write about.
Please stop by A.C.’s Find My Ancestor Blog, leave him a comment letting him know you stopped by. We welcome you A.C. and look forward to reading your blog!
