Barbara Schmidt Genealogy – Family Research
Blog type: Education, Family
My passion is genealogy and family research. This hobby got me hooked now for 20 years. I have always been interested in all those aunts and uncles and cousins showing up at baptisms, weddings and family reunions. But somehow I never really got to the point to know who is who, who belongs to whom and btw. who was the father of cousin Karl? Wait, he isn’t really my cousin?? Why didn’t anyone tell me?
So, I will use this blog to live my obsession. I blog in two languages: English, because I just reach more readers with it and German as my mother tongue.
Whatever comes to my mind regarding genealogy can be a topic here: cousin bait, today in my family tree, tips and hints, personal experiences when I messed up, personal experiences when I kicked through this brick wall I’ve had for ages, as well as desperate cries for help.
At the tab “Names” you find the family names present in my family tree so far. And under “places” take a look at where I research so far.
I would love to hear from you! Let me know when you found something where I wasn’t right or something where I was great 😉
You want to read about something particular from my research regions? Let me know, maybe I can do something about it.
I hope you have as much fun reading as I have writing!
My Big Italian Family
Blog type: Family, Italian, Italy
I am a family genealogist and have been researching my family for about 30 years. Most of my research takes me back to Italy. I connect with other genealogists and family members through Ancestry.com, MyHeritage, Facebook and Google+. I also am a member of a local Italian genealogy group called CIAO. My main goal is to share my family history with others and publish some of my work!
Te Aroha – Genealogy & History
Blog type: New Zealand genealogy
My blog is a collection of information that I have gathered from a variety of mostly web based sources that were freely available. I am amalgamating the Te Aroha sources in one place. Currently, my interests are focused on World War One soldiers as the centenary for that event draws closer and birth, death and marriage details that I have found in online newspapers. Te Aroha is a small farming community in the Waikato area of the North Island of New Zealand – the town where I grew up.
