Here is a list of events and goings-on in the world of genealogy blogging. Here’s what is happening in the coming week:
Happy New Year – Changes Coming To GeneaBloggers in 2011
Warm wishes for a happy and successful 2011 to all our readers. Over the next two weeks you’ll see changes to GeneaBloggers which will include:
- A reconfiguration of Daily Blogging Prompts with some new additions, some consolidations and the retirement of some prompts as well.
- New policies on getting your blog listed at GeneaBloggers. We are approaching our 2,000 blog limit in Google Reader and need to accommodate this limit. The emphasis will be on genealogy and family history blogs active in the past year.
- The appearance of an editorial calendar for genealogy and family history bloggers. This will make it easy to plan blog posts, to pre-post and to see what each week and month holds in the world of genealogy blogging.
Data Backup Day – January 1, 2011
Want to start off the New Year with the assurance that all your hard work and genealogy research of 2010 is backed up? The first day of each month has been designated as Data Backup Day – and here are some great resources to get you started. Post about how you backup your data (or don’t backup your data) and we’ll carry your post here at GeneaBloggers on January 1st!

GeneaBloggers Group on Facebook
We are now at 1,362 members this week at GeneaBloggers Group on Facebook. If you know anyone who blogs about their genealogy or family history and you think they might benefit from membership in Geneabloggers please tell them about our Facebook group!
Another Year Long Series
Yes, Amy Coffin of the We Tree blog, has gone for the hat trick, the three-peat in terms of developing a year long series for genealogy and family history bloggers. From the innovative genealogist who brought you “52 Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompts” in 2009 and “52 Weeks To Better Genealogy” in 2010, comes a new series focusing on personal family history.
Check back at GeneaBloggers tomorrow – January 1, 2011 – for details on the series of prompts and ways in which you can participate!
And don’t forget to check out other upcoming events at the Geneabloggers Calendar. This is the same Google calendar that has been in existence for quite some time. And if you subscribe to the calendar you’ll receive email reminders of events.
