Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompt

Check out Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompt #8Talk about highlights and events from your local genealogy society. Most genealogy bloggers are members of several historical societies and love to hear about the events in other organizations. This is also a great way to attract new members.

Geneabloggers Calendar

Don’t forget to check out other upcoming events at the new Geneabloggers Calendar. This is the same Google calendar that has been in existence for quite some time.

StumbleUpon Adds Genealogy Category

For those geneabloggers who market their blog posts through various social bookmarking sites (Digg, Diigo, Reddit, etc.) will want to know that I contacted StumbleUpon and requested the addition of the Genealogy category to their drop-down list.

It looks like they took about a day to consider my request and came through:

I think that both Miriam at AnceStories and Denise at Moultrie Creek have posted about social bookmarking but perhaps an update is needed here at Geneabloggers.  Look for it soon!

Wanted: Guest Posters

In keeping with Geneabloggers as a community resource, we are always looking for Guest Posters to help us keep content fresh and interesting.  In addition, we could use help from anyone with an idea for an on-going column or series of posts.

One example of a Guest Poster is Kathryn Lake Hogan of LOOKING4ANCESTORS who generates the May I Introduce To You series of posts which highlight various members of the geneablogging community.

Contact us with your idea(s) and we’ll be happy to give you author privileges for posting here at Geneabloggers.  Guest posting is also a great way to bring more readers to your own blog since you can always end your posts with a byline about yourself and your blogs.
